Privacy
No accounts, no cookies, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party trackers. We could not build a profile of you from this site if we wanted to. That is a design decision, not an oversight.
What we collect
Nothing about you, as a visitor. There is no sign-up, no comment system, no newsletter, and no form that sends data anywhere. The search box on the explainers page runs entirely inside your browser — what you type is never transmitted.
What your browser stores
One thing: your light-or-dark preference, kept in your browser's own local storage so the site opens the way you left it. It stays on your machine, we never see it, and clearing your browser data removes it.
If you email us
We receive your address and whatever you write, and we keep it only so we can reply. We do not add you to a list, sell it, or share it. Ask us to delete the thread and we will.
Hosting
This is a static site. The server that delivers these pages will necessarily see the IP address of anyone who loads them, as every web server does; we do not use that to identify anyone, and we run no analytics of our own.
Where this is operated from, and the law that applies
This is a personal, non-commercial project run by one person in Ontario, Canada. It is not a business and nothing here is sold, so there is no customer relationship and no commercial activity for Canadian privacy law to govern — the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act applies to organisations carrying on commercial activity, and this is not one. We are telling you this because it is true, not to claim an exemption.
It makes no practical difference, because we collect nothing in the first place. The only personal information that ever reaches us is an email you choose to send; we keep it only long enough to reply, and we will delete it on request.
Changes
